My Story

I've spent most of my life on quick-fix diets, cleanses and eating food I didn't like.  I learned the hard way that changing my basic eating habits was the only way to sustain weight loss in the long run.

It’s always nice to be reminded about the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle – and exactly what this means.

Scientists studied the lifestyle habits of more than 20,000 men and women aged between 45 and 79 years between 1993 and 1997.

The adults were given one point for each of four healthy behaviours:

Not smoking

Being active

Sticking to acceptable alcohol intakes

Eating plenty of fruit and veg.

The people were then followed up around 11 years later.

Those who scored zero points due to smoking, being inactive, drinking too much and having poor intakes of fruit and veg, were four times more likely to have died during the study than those who scored four points for fulfilling all the healthy lifestyle factors.

Those who scored two points – in other words they had two unhealthy lifestyle habits but two healthy ones – were twice as likely to have died.

Health is Better than Wealth

Wealth is on the wish list for many people through out the world but having a healthy longevity is their top wish. To grow to a ripe old age to see your family tree grew is a memorable memory

Water and drinks

Your body needs water or other fluids to work properly and to avoid dehydration. The European Food Safety Authority recommends that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid and men should drink about 2.0 litres of fluid per day. That's about eight glasses of 200ml each for a woman, and 10 glasses of 200ml each for a man.

Healthy Lifestyles

The message is simple: give up the weed, eat five fruit and veg, don’t drink too much and be more active – and you can expect to live longer.

All these behaviours will also help shift those pounds, which research has also shown will help you see extra birthdays in your old age.

Healthy Living-Healthy Eating

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best, Understand what you're eating

Make an effort to learn about the food you're eating – we all need to understand where food comes from and how it affects our bodies.
